Ableton Live Experience:
I have been using Ableton Live pretty much exclusively since 2011. I like to think I know the recording software pretty much inside out and have managed to craft an extremely quick workflow, which I feel is the key to music making and recording. I have owned Ableton Push and then Push 2 since they were released, an essential workflow tool in my opinion.
A lot of people associate Ableton Live with just electronic music and think that is all it's used for, but it is so much more than that and is an amazing tool no matter what genre of music you produce.
I love Live. I love how there are so many ways to use the software and there is always something new to learn.
Early 2020 I put myself forward to be an Ableton Certified Trainer and made it into the Top 10. Unfortunately I didn't quite make the cut but I learned so much from the experience and the interview process. It has only made me hungrier to learn more and do what it takes to become a Certified Trainer.
I have been in and out of recording studios for around 15 - 20 years and have learned a hell of a lot in that time.
I first dabbled with Cubase when I decided to give producing a go myself but soon moved onto Ableton Live.
I studied Sound Engineering at Edinburgh College and have done various Ableton Live courses at Subsine Academy, Glasgow.
Over the last few years I have also taken the time to learn Pro Tools and Logic Pro X.
I am a total synth head and have vast experience with loads of different synths. I now prefer to craft my own sounds as opposed to using presets, something I feel the Novation Peak is great for.
I also have a great knowledge of MIDI and all the routing capabilities it brings.
Real World Experience:
Guitar/Synth/Vocal/Songwriter in Indie/Dance band The Draymin - over 10 years.
Gigged all over the UK - playing major festivals, headline shows, major support slots. Also invited to play SXSW in Austin, Texas.
Used recording studios all over the UK. Most notably, invited to record at EMI Recording Studios, London.
Music Business Experience:
Studied Music Business at West of Scotland College, Greenock.
Managed my own band The Draymin for long periods.
Managed Dunfermline band Val Verde who went on to achieve a large amount of success.
Music Events and Promotion Experience:
Have booked full UK tours and put gigs on at venues large and small taking care of everything from PA systems, lighting rigs, security and booking accommodation.
Yes, I love "making" music, but I also love teaching and helping others to make music!
It's great to see somebody get the ideas in their head out and have that moment of hearing it back through the speakers. It's easier than ever before to achieve this, a basic home studio can be setup for a very modest price. Let's do it!
